Introduction Pennsylvania the 6th state among the 50 states of United States is located in Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic region of United States. The state was admitted to the U.S union in 1787 as the 2nd state. Pennsylvania’s legislation consists of three branches-the executive, legislative and the judicial branch. The legislative branch is the Pennsylvania General Assembly which consists of House of Representatives with 50 members and the Senators consists of 203-members. Representatives are elected for 2 year term while the Senators are elected for 4 year term. The House of Representatives is headed by the Speaker while the Senate is headed by its President. There are several courts established by the Pennsylvania Constitution such as Pennsylvania Supreme Court which is the highest court in the state other courts like Pennsylvania Appellate Court is the state’s trial court for general jurisdiction. All judges in Pennsylvania are elected; the chief justice is determined by the seniority. The executive branch in Pennsylvania is headed by the Governor; the other executive officials in the executive branch are Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General. Auditor General and State Treasurer.
